Once we understand the true purpose of every relationship we become able to respond to whatever occurs between ourselves and others in a way that is empowering, healing and enlightening to both.

Radical Relationships is a spiritual model that, even though it references such psychological mechanisms as denial, repression and projection, goes way beyond the psychological explanations of relationships that are common in our culture. It shows us that we are never upset for the reasons we think and that within any relationship there exists an opportunity for spiritual growth.

It also shows that we attract people into our lives who mirror for us that which we have denied, repressed and projected onto others. Such people, who on the face of it seem to be our enemies, may in fact be our ‘healing angels.’

The opportunities for healing very often show up as a repeating pattern from relationship to relationship. This helps us to recognize how our Spiritual Intelligence is actually creating these learning opportunities for us.

Relationships Questionnaire

Reviewing your relationships from high school on, look to see if any of the following applies to you:

1. My relationships all last roughly the same length of time before declining.
2. My spouse/partner is not unlike my parent of the same sex as he or she.
3. I seem to attract the same kind of person to be in relationship with each time.
4. I seem unable to sustain a long-term relationship.
5. I always end up getting hurt.

If you answered "Yes" to any of the questions or statements, there is probably an underlying pattern causing you to keep recreating these circumstances as opportunities to heal something within yourself.
